In 2023, Kinsey acquired Cynthia's legacy of casts, journals and diaries, and other items unique to her artistic talents. Ultimately, the trio found an interested party in the Kinsey Institute. They began their search soon after Cynthia's death in 2022, along with Jerry Boyle, another longtime friend of Cynthia's. ![]() Īdditionally, Cynthia asked trusted friends Babette Novak and Chris Kellner to search for a museum or company that would take her art seriously. Shortly before her death, Albritton donated a copy of her 1968 plaster cast of Jimi Hendrix's erect penis to the Icelandic Phallological Museum. Īlbritton died from cerebrovascular disease at a care facility in Chicago on April 21, 2022, aged 74. She is the inspiration for the character 'Juicy Lucy' in Good Girls Revolt, whom Patty interviews as a witness to the Altamont riot. In 1969, Pamela Des Barres, of Frank Zappa's group The GTOs, recorded a telephone conversation with Cynthia from Chicago for the GTOs album Permanent Damage.Īlbritton was a candidate for mayor of Chicago in the 2011 election on the "Hard Party" ticket. She is also mentioned in Momus' song "The Penis Song" on his album Folktronic and the Le Tigre song "Nanny Nanny Boo Boo". She has inspired at least two songs: " Five Short Minutes" by Jim Croce and " Plaster Caster" by Kiss. She also contributed to the BBC Three documentary My Penis and I (2005), made by British filmmaker Lawrence Barraclough about his anxiety over his 9 cm ( 3 + 1⁄ 2-inch) erect penis. In 2001, a film documentary, Plaster Caster, was made about her. She also decided to begin casting women's breasts as an egalitarian move. In 2000, Albritton finally held her first exhibition of the casts in New York City. After years of wrangling, Albritton found herself in 1993 having to go to court in order to retrieve the 25 casts Cohen held (she got all but three of them back). The exhibition idea did not take off however due to a sudden lack of rock stars willing to participate. In 1971, after her apartment was burgled, Zappa and Albritton decided the casts should be preserved for a future exhibition, entrusting them to Zappa's legal partner, Herb Cohen, for safekeeping. He moved her to Los Angeles, which she described as a veritable groupie heaven, with no lack of willing assistants eager to prepare the subjects for casting. Meeting Frank Zappa, who found the concept of "casting" both humorous and creative as an art form (though he himself had no interest in submitting to the procedure), Albritton found in him something of a patron. Finding a dental mold-making substance called alginate to be sufficient, she found her first celebrity client in Jimi Hendrix, the first of many to submit to the idea. In college, when her art teacher gave the class an assignment to "plaster cast something solid that could retain its shape", she hit upon the idea of casting erect male genitalia, which would then go flaccid and exit the mold. Albritton studied at the University of Illinois Chicago. In the late 1960s, she became caught up in free love and rock music. ![]() Shy as a young girl, Albritton sought out a way to make contact with the opposite sex. ![]() In 2000, she added casting female artists' breasts.Ĭynthia Dorothy Albritton was born in Chicago. ![]() She later expanded her subjects to include filmmakers and other types of artists, eventually amassing a collection of 50 plaster phalluses. While the rock-solid build quality may reassure someone prepared to spend more buying a body-only Leica SL2 than a vintage Moog Model D synthesizer, it’s probably not the ideal travel camera for lugging around for an entire day on a city break – even if you were to return with some cracking photos as a result. In fact, used in tandem with the aforementioned zoom, the SL2 feels like it weighs a ton – it’s been fashioned from two solid pieces of aluminium with a central magnesium alloy portion sandwiched in its midst – so we were thankful for the padded strap that also came with our sample. It has to be said that, while Leica may have tried to update this camera while keeping the weight down, it’s not the most portable option ever. You’re not just reviewing the pictures from the Leica SL2 – the detail draws you in, so that you almost ‘inhabit’ them. The level of detail, then, is astounding – and, viewed large on-screen, almost overwhelming. It’s worth noting that unless you (or your subjects) are blessed with perfect skin, the Leica SL2 can be quite unflattering, in picking up and magnifying every minor blemish or wrinkle. Though the SL2 is directly based on the original SL camera from back in 2015, the SL2 and the Q2 do have some equally obvious similarities – not least a 47 megapixel resolution from a full frame sensor that, when coupled with some high quality Leica ‘glass’ – we had a 24-90mm lens in use, suitable for delivering some lovely de-focused background effects – produces images that are almost too sharp. Interestingly, Leica claims that the refined and more intuitive user interface on the mirrorless full frame SL2, when compared with its direct predecessor, should enable any users familiar with the Q2 to immediately get to grips with it. Now arrives the Leica SL2, another solid, black-bodied camera, but differing this time in being equipped with Leica’s L-mount, thus enabling around 150 lenses to be utilised if investing in specific adapters. When we reviewed Leica’s Q2 earlier this year, we wondered if it was perhaps the most over qualified and over specified street photography camera ever. The Leica SL2 is available now priced at £5,300 / $5,995 body only in the UK and US respectively. The SL2 also offers in-body image stabilisation, a continuous shooting rate of up to 20fps, a 187 megapixel multishot mode, built-in wi-fi, NFC and GPS connectivity, a highest ISO setting of 50,000 and dual UHS-II SD memory card slots. ![]() It features a 47 megapixel full-frame (24x36mm) CMOS sensor with no optical low pass filter, the latest Leica Maestro III series processor, 4K/60p video recording, a class-leading electronic viewfinder with a resolution of 5.76 megapixels, and a 3.2-inch LCD screen with 2.1 megapixels and touchscreen control. The SL2 is available at a price of 8.55 million won ($7,258).The Leica SL2 is a new professional full-frame mirrorless camera aimed at both photographers and videographers. The SL2 also targets users who prefer to shoot video as it has 4k video capabilities for smoother and more "cinematic" footage. Mirrorless cameras have been gaining popularity compared with digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras because they are usually smaller and lighter than DSLRs. TotalAV is definitely faster, but here’s the problem. ![]() Both ran more than 24 hours on the same MacBook Pro. For instance, two of the slowest full scan products for Mac are ESET and McAfee. Since I am comparing the same features across multiple products, I like to time how long they take to run as well. The System scan is used to scan the entire local disk. Usually, a quick scan only checks the limited number of folders, such as Desktop and Downloads. The program has two options in the Malware Scan section: Quick and System scans. TotalAV, however, missed 15 of them, which means the detection rate was 87%.įor comparison, the best free antivirus detects 98% of malware in a similar test. I have 117 malware samples for testing, and the best antivirus apps detect and remove all of them. Unfortunately, TotalAV for Mac did not perform well in my testing. I run scans multiple times because sometimes viruses will not be deleted in the first scan. The next thing I test is how well does the software detects and removes malware. I also didn’t notice any excessive disk activity or too much network traffic. With TotalAV, I didn’t notice any significant lags while browsing the internet or working with files. The first thing I’d like to know is how much they affect Mac’s performance because I don’t want any security app to slow down my computer. There are certain things that I test with every antivirus. It found some “issues,” which I will describe below. The MacBook Pro I used for testing has a relatively small disk, so the smart scan was completed very quickly. The time it takes to complete the smart scan depends on the size of Mac storage, the number of files, and some possible issues. It’s a combination of multiple scans: Quick malware, junk files, duplicate files, startup apps, browser logs, and cookies. Once installed, the program performs the so-called Smart Scan. I believe you can enter anything if you are not planning to upgrade TotalAV from free to premium since the app does not send activation emails.
